Team news from Southampton v Man Utd

Marcus Rashford and Alex Telles will definitely miss this game.

Jadon Sancho could make his first United start and Raphael Varane could also make his debut.

Phil Jones made his injury comeback in a closed-door friendly against Burnley on Tuesday, but it would be a surprise to see him here on the bench.

Our prediction: Southampton – United

United should win this game. Southampton struggled hard against Everton in the second half and haven’t yet replaced Jannik Vestergaard at the back.

A strong start to the season is vital for United and there will be no excuses not to take all three points here.

A clean sheet would be a welcome bonus, although James Ward-Prowse United’s delivery was troubled last season and will be a tough test for Eric Ramsey’s work this summer.

Our prediction: Southampton 0-2 United
