The ties between Eduardo Camavinga and Manchester United are getting hotter again. The United Mail report weighs an approach for the young French.
This follows after Spanish newspaper AS reported last year that it feared United would halt Real Madrid’s move to Camavinga.
Real may have fallen out of the race after Zinedine Zidane left as coach. RMC reports that United are planning talks with Camavinga’s agents this week, but PSG are lurking as potential suitors.
Camavinga is represented by Jonathan Barnett. Luke Shaw, Dean Henderson, Daniel James, Tahith Chong and Ethan Laird are among the Manchester United players in Barnett’s books. He also represents Gareth Bale and Jack Grealish who have seen United moves in the past so nothing is guaranteed there.

What Barnett has to say
Camavinga plays for the French club Rennes and only has a one-year contract.
Barnett is open to Camavinga’s future and has no obligation whether he says the young talent will stay or go. What he is convinced of is the talent of the player.
Barnett told Goal last month: “Playing for a good club is nice for him. It could be this year, or he wants another year. He needs to talk to his family, his father. We’ll all sit down and decide. We will also speak to Rennes and decide. There is no rush for him.
“He’s probably the best young player in the world. He just turned 18. He was already a French international. He’s an incredible talent. He could play on any team in the world. He’ll still be a great talent at 19. It’s not that old, you know, 19. “
Manager wants another year
It may not come as a surprise that Rennes boss Bruno Genesio Camavinga stays and believes this will be good for his development. The team finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season.
Bruno Genesio told News In 24 last month: “He’s still a developing player who has tremendous qualities to reach the very high level. My interest and my position may be perceived as subjective, but if I put myself in his shoes, I think he has to be at least another year at a club like the Stade Rennais, where he is at home, with everyone’s confidence to develop further. He will have time to take other steps. “
Deschamps fair in his assessment
Camavinga made 67 first team appearances for Rennes at the age of 18. He was the best tackler in Ligue 1 in 2019/20 and was appointed to the French national team.
France boss Didier Deschamps didn’t choose him in his 2020 Euro squad, partly because of his embarrassment of wealth and also because he saw Camavinga as a step back into shape. This is of course understandable for such a young talent.
Didier Deschamps told GFFN in March: “His potential and what he is capable of, what he has done with us and what he has done since then, there is obviously a big difference. Potentially, he shouldn’t drift off the scene, after that it’s up to him to look at the various elements to see what made his performance less strong. “

The wow factor
Teammate Hatem Ben Arfa would no doubt agree with Jonathan Barnett that Camavinga is the best young player in the world.
Hatem Ben Arfa told ESPN 2019: “He was amazing. Technically and physically, he’s a monster. Everything he does is perfect.
“For me he is by definition the modern midfielder. There is nothing he cannot do. He can defend, attack, head, create, score and assist the ball. He is powerful but technically gifted with his left foot. He is intelligent, elegant. You would rarely have seen a player like him at his age. “
United would buy a highly talented young midfielder at an hammer price on the basis of his contract. There’s a lot to like about this potential deal.
It fits in with the club’s strategy of targeting the best young players and this would make up for missing out on Jude Bellingham a year ago.

Last word for Camavinga itself
The biggest advantage United could have in the race for Camavinga is Paul Pogba.
The teenager was amazed to have the chance to work with Pogba for France on an international level.
Camavinga told Le Figaro in 2020: “I am inspired by Paul Pogba, an excellent player who has a huge career.”
There is a possibility that Camavinga will become Pogba’s replacement. But Pogba could stay for at least another year.
Be it the challenge of following in Pogba’s footsteps or playing by his side, Manchester United have something unique to offer in the race for Camavinga’s service.
