Odrick Hall has become an inspiring, larger than life character by simply taking whatever he wants to be to become whatever he can be. With over 800 million views on YouTube, he has worked with Beyoncé and starred in a selection of Broadway smashes. The Billboard cover story summed up his great appeal: “He’s part of the old school theater actor, part of the new school internet personality, part of the drag queen …”
Now Todrick Hall is sharing the biggest and boldest music project of his career with the release of his new album ‘Femulin’ which is now out through frtyfve. To celebrate the new album, Todrick has just announced his “Femuline” EU & UK tour for May 2022, during which he will perform two very special shows at the London Palladium on May 25th and 26th, 2022.
“Femulin” is a big step forward from Todrick’s 2020 EP “Quarantine Queen”. His voice has a new self-confidence and a new power, while the songs stand out stronger, bolder and even more direct. That is not to say that Todrick has lost none of his magnetic charisma, his irresistible lust for life or his cheeky humor: It breaks out of the loudspeaker at every turn. And who else would dare to call a track “Dick This Big”?
The lead single “Boys In The Ocean” on the album is probably Todrick’s most beautiful moment so far, with irresistible funk and disco contagion, which makes for a first-class pop highlight that celebrates summer escapism. Watch the official lyric video HERE.
Adds Todrick, “” It took me years and years, even after coming out, to feel so comfortable embracing my masculine and feminine sides. I am very happy to give people permission to live their fullest and truest selves with this music, which I have handcrafted especially for the gay community. But I also feel that my music will resonate with people of all ages and backgrounds. “
Another standout moment is the new focus track ‘Queen’, which has everything you need to become a future Pride anthem. It’s a defiant declaration of empowerment, as Todrick explains, “I was born with glitter in my veins, I don’t give a shit what people say … I was born to be a queen.” And he’s never sounded so good as he pounded his way through a modern hi-NRG pop classic like his life depended on it.
Todrick works with a variety of famous names in ‘Femulin’. His collaboration with the Queen of Funk, Chaka Khan, delivers more ‘fabulosity’ than a track can contain, while Nicole Scherzinger expands his perfectly balanced pop knowledge on ‘Show Off’. In collaboration with Brandy on the glittering “Click Clack” sashays in retro R&B style, Tyra Banks brings authentic fashionista vibes to “FASHON”, while TS Madison’s feature on “Dick This Big” is the kitschest hip-hop show tune leads that you can imagine.
The album was written entirely by Todrick and produced by Grammy winners Wiidope (Nicole Scherzinger, Ciara) and Jeeve (Bruno Mars, Britney Spears).
Todrick’s unstoppable, self-sustaining rise has taken him far from his roots in the small Texan town of Plainview. He quickly rose from national fame on “American Idol” to international attention on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” to dominate a huge global social media following. And that even before you consider his Broadway runs in “Kinky Boots”, “Chicago” and “Waitress” or his role as dance captain in “Greatest Dancer” on the BBC. His profile continued to explode after his COVID-19 anthem “Mask, Gloves, Soap, Scrubs,” which he followed to host Global Pride 2020 for YouTube.
