Sergio Romero wants Manchester United fans to know he’s still here as his contract expires.

Romero has become a forgotten character who has been tossed aside and not sold or loaned this season.

The Argentine has not played a single game all season.

Romero is still training with the first team and while he recently returned to Argentina he’s back at Carrington giving his all.

Romero clearly enjoys working with the group of United goalkeepers who are undergoing a major overhaul this summer.

Romero’s contract runs with Lee Grant and loanee Joel Pereira at the end of June. All three will be published in their current form.

David de Gea faces an uncertain future despite his Europa League heroics after losing his place in the Premier League to Dean Henderson.

Romero’s situation has been a flaw in United’s record this season so it seems from the outside. He was treated harshly.

Indeed, Romero would have been ideal if De Gea had possibly left and United needed support for Henderson. But this bridge could have been burned.

Romero’s last game was in the quarter-finals of last season’s Europa League.

He played a role at United and reached all three semifinals last season before being dropped for David de Gea. Losing all three to United has increased his feeling of bitterness about the situation.

It’s nice to see Romero still smiling. As he should, he is well paid. At least United keeps him in touch with his teammates until the end.

Romero is registered in the Premier League roster, he was added in February.

Maybe there’s a chance he’ll play one last farewell game before the season ends. If he did, it would be a popular choice.
