Manchester United are on the verge of completing a second major transfer of the window, with Di Marzio reporting that a deal has been reached for Raphael Varane.

This left a big question – who will be next to sign at Old Trafford?

An overly optimistic report from Mundo Deportivo over the weekend claimed that United could chase Erling Haaland this summer and would offer Anthony Martial into the mix to get it done.

Former NFL wide receiver Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson, who recently hung out with Paul Pogba in Miami, asked journalist Fabrizio Romano if a deal could be made for the Dortmund striker.

this summer i think no! 😄😬

Try 2022 …

Romano’s answer wasn’t surprising. Making a deal with Borussia Dortmund this summer was hard enough.

Dortmund have no intention of letting Haaland leave the club after just 18 months.

They may not have a choice next summer. Haaland has a £ 60million release clause in its contract60 [The Mirror]. It makes sense that United will be interested – along with every top club in Europe.

Haaland is likely to end up with the club that gives Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola the largest commission United could devalue.

But United have two cards to play, the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Jadon Sancho ace. In a recent message to Haaland, Sancho even wrote that he would “soon” meet again.

United need a striker next summer, Edinson Cavani’s contract expires in 2022. Then the race for Haaland’s future gets interesting.

Currently, United’s needs are in the midfield once the deal for Varane is officially closed.

When will Varane be revealed?

Romano had another update on Varane, stating that it might not be revealed by United until next week.

The reason for this are quarantine rules. Romano said the deal is 100 percent complete.

Raphaël Varane is expected to join Manchester United next week due to quarantine rules. Varane’s warehouse is still working on it. 🔴 #MUFC

The deal is 100% DONE. Varane will be flying to Manchester this week but will receive medical treatment a few days later. ‘Official’ planning soon.

It’s good to hear Varane is flying in shortly. This is in line with other reports. The quarantine problem is not ideal as the time goes by before the league season.

Varane is good enough to jump straight into United XI with little preparation time. Whether or not to be asked is a different decision. Solskjaer plunged Harry Maguire right into his XI days after joining. Varane is coming to a different country and a different league and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to make the decision about the opener.
