Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag is one of the names mentioned in connection with the vacant job at Manchester United.
The football style of the Dutch team is appealing after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign ended with no philosophy implemented.
United’s intention to hire an interim manager prior to a long-term hiring this summer suggests they may have to wait to find the right man.
But former Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart believes Ten Hag, 51, couldn’t say no to United if asked to join them now.

Van der Vaart said in the NOS Studio Voetbal: “You won’t say no to that, will you? If Manchester United want you, go. “
He raised concerns about Ten Hag’s English, adding, “You need to be able to make your point of view. I don’t know if he can do this in English. I think it needs to be refined. “
My colleague Arno Vermeulen downplayed Ten Hag’s chances and said: “I honestly think that the chances are not very big.
“It won’t leave a year in which Ajax are already sure of the knockout phase of the Champions League. I think they want an interim solution there.
“I have the feeling that he can go to Germany much better. I would like to see him at Bayern Munch one day. I think he would fit very well there as a coach. “

It would be a surprise if Ten Hag left Ajax mid-season as their campaign is going so well.
But as van der Vaart said, if United made it clear that he is the man they want to lead into a new era, could he say no?
As Vermeulen said, United have already announced their intention to find an interim manager, but those plans would certainly change if the right man were ready to move in mid-season.
It appears that Mauricio Pochettino is the leading contender to succeed Solskjaer and there are increasing reports that he is ready to leave Paris Saint-Germain now.
