Manchester United are looking to improve their squad for the 2021-22 season and there are several potential signings in the game.

Jadon Sancho is more or less finished, reports the BBC. A change from defender Raphael Varane is also being planned, reports AS.

The dilemma at United midfield could be resolved by a Ruben Neves move, with Talksport reporting United being trailblazers.

How could United look with these three players in the starting XI? Below is one way the team might line up. Keep in mind that this is a team pick with Marcus Rashford regardless of his potential surgery and including wanton midfielder Paul Pogba.

Second XI with further changes

Below is a second XI with more moving parts. In addition to the triple move discussed above, right-back Kieran Trippier is also there, who, according to The Telegraph report, is interested in a move from United. He would share the time with Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

This team leaves out Paul Pogba. United would choose Fred alongside Neves instead. His aggressive play could offset Neve’s creativity in midfield. The two also won the most tackles in midfield for their respective teams last season.

In this team we also changed the goal and selected Dean Henderson over David de Gea. It is currently unclear which direction United will lean in.

We also eliminated Marcus Rashford and moved Jadon Sancho to the left to explain his operation and also to show United’s different attack options.

A lot of reserve

It says a lot about United’s strength that there are so many talented players that we haven’t mentioned.

Victor Lindelof is a top-class back-up in defense, while Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Donny van de Beek could also play a role in midfield.

In attack, Anthony Martial could play a role throughout the season if Edinson Cavani is rested. Meanwhile, the Young Guns Amad and Anthony Elanga as well as Dan James provide depth in wide areas.

United have yet to finalize those deals and Neves could potentially be swapped with another new midfielder. But these teams look strong and should be very competitive when the next season starts.
