Manchester United’s transfer business looks very positive right now. And now a very optimistic report has made a very bold claim.
The Sun report United is very advanced in deals for Kieran Trippier and Raphael Varane and believes a double announcement could be made by the end of next week.
It’s optimistic. It’s probably too good to be true. But it’s encouraging.

Could it be that this double contract has been concluded?
The source could worry some fans. But it’s covered by The Sun’s leading United writer, Neil Custis. The newspaper claimed two years ago that the deal with Harry Maguire was agreed and closed in mid-July 2019 – but that would not come about for another three weeks. Ultimately, it turned out to be correct.
United fans should be confident that both deals could be closed. It is entirely possible that the Varane deal will close by the end of next week. RMC Sport reported yesterday that United are progressing in their pursuit of the French defender.
Switching for Trippier is more complicated due to Atletico’s opposition to the will to sell. But the defender is sure to return to Manchester, reports The Telegraph.
Trippier’s move feels like a transfer could drag on until the deadline, but United appear to be more aggressive in the market this year.
United must sell, and Jesse Lingard’s exit could be accelerated as the club pushes these two deals that are speculated to cost £ 68m together.
Varane has a year left for his deal and Trippier two. If United can get these deals across the line, let’s just say we look very strong for the next season. Doing both before the start of the season would be great business as Jadon Sancho is already there.
