Manchester United teenager Oliver Kilner has signed with Oldham Athletic.
Kilner, 18, signed a contract with Oldham that was announced on the club’s website last week.
Oldham’s Head of Recruiting Paul Ogden said: “Oliver is a versatile defender who can play across the back four.
“He was well trained at Manchester United and has been in their setup since May 2012. He is extremely competitive and has a good understanding of defensive principles.
“We have been watching his progress for some time and his qualities fit the group perfectly. Oliver drives the ball well and is very positive in possession, playing with both feet. I’m excited to see how it develops and with hard work I can hopefully knock on the first team door sooner rather than later. “

Oldham plays in the second division and is coached by former City defender Keith Curle. In 2020/21 they took 18th place.
Kilner will go to their academy and work towards their first team, where he would have had a better chance than staying at United.
The United U18 team is full of talent and Kilner only made one appearance last season.
The right-back was substituted on in a rare defeat last season when a rapidly changing United team suffered a 3-1 defeat by Derby.
Obviously, a lack of action didn’t bode well for him last season and United had no problem letting him go.
He has found a club that seems to have a lot of trust in him and we wish him that.
