Welsh winger Dan James made headlines in early Euro 2020 when he set one of the fastest sprint speeds in the tournament. Watching him play was not at all surprising.

Now, with England’s win over Ukraine, he has been matched by one of his Manchester United team-mates.

It was Marcus Rashford who set the pace, as recorded by UEFA.com.

Rashford came on in the 65th minute against Ukraine, England already led 4-0 and replaced Raheem Sterling.

Despite not contributing to the goals, the game was already won and Rashford clearly did all he could. Getting 25 minutes of action was good for him to add to his sharpness and this could pay off in the semifinals or even the final if called for.

Rashford’s pace shouldn’t come as a surprise. United’s official website reported that it set the players’ fastest sprint speed for the 2020-21 season.

England’s fastest player

Rashford is now England’s fastest player at Euro 2020 after setting his speed of 33.5 km / h.

He jumped ahead of Raheem Sterling (33.1), Kyle Walker (32.8) and Mason Mount (31.5).

The fastest player is 0.3 km / h faster than the times of Rashford and Dan James, with Italian Leonardo Spinazzola and Hungary’s Loic Nego each reaching 33.8 km / h.

Prior to Rashford’s post on Saturday, Scott McTominay (32.2) was the second fastest United player behind James at the tournament.
