Jadon Sancho was not needed in England’s 2-0 win over Germany.

At one point it looked like the Manchester United winger might have been needed as the game was stalled and both teams were tiring.

England boss Gareth Southgate made a change with Jack Grealish replacing Bukayo Saka. Sancho played for the third time in four games without engagement.

If ever it seemed like an opportune moment to play against Sancho, it seemed like the game against Germany. No English attacker knows the weaknesses of Jogi Low’s players as well as Sancho, who has more than 100 Bundesliga games under his belt.

One notable person who felt that Sancho should have played a role was Borussia Dortmund’s team-mate Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian sent a message at halftime asking him to consult Sancho. If anyone knows how good Sancho is, it is Haaland, who has benefited from his templates countless times.

Time to put on Sancho …

Gareth Southgate disagreed and the English boss was right in the end. Sancho is kept for another day.

From a Manchester United perspective, that’s not a bad thing. It will keep him fresh and will increase his motivation to prove a point next season.

Sport1 reported that the transfer is nearing completion, with only the final details; the fee rates and bonuses to be calculated.

United supporters are confident that this deal will come about. Marcus Rashford even confirmed it last night.

That certainty led to many responses from fans urging Haaland to follow Sancho to Old Trafford in 2022.

Haaland’s release clause goes into effect next summer and although many sides will be interested, the option for him to rejoin Sancho will tempt United.

United need a striker, Edinson Cavani’s contract expires in June. Haaland seems like the ideal option to follow him at the moment.

Here’s a look at the cheeky replies to Haaland’s message …

Follow him to Old Trafford and we’ll win the lot. @ Sanchooo10 what do you think 🤔😊
