Whatever the Manchester United first team can do, the U23 players too, they showed it last night.

United’s U-23s beat Derby County 6-2 after falling 2-1.

The team is now fifth in the table, which is pretty impressive considering an up and down campaign.

Ethan Galbraith, Shola Shoretire and Omari Forson all scored in between before Elanga and then Shoretire added a second each.

Elanga’s second goal was particularly good, dribbling into the box after being substituted by Forson and hitting two opponents before shooting deep into the net.

This was Elanga’s best game since returning from a collarbone injury that left him incapacitated for three months in early January.

Top scorer

Elanga’s double against Derby means he’s United’s top scorer for the U-23s this season, including EFL Trophy games.

He has scored eleven goals and overtaken Joe Hugill by ten (who also has six for the under 18s) while Shola Shoretire’s brace also got him ten goals.

Elanga’s productivity is all the more impressive as he missed the time due to an injury.

He also assisted against Derby, his fourth of the season, adding all of his goal contributions to 15 that campaign.

Elanga was recently called up to United’s first squad for the Europa League matches against Granada and has trained with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

His performance on Monday evening was exactly what Solskjaer will have been looking for.

There could be a chance for Elanga to make his debut before the end of the season if United finalizes Champions League qualifiers early.

With United need left-wing alternatives to Marcus Rashford to rest the English star, Elanga could be the perfect candidate.

United fans loved seeing Elanga what he is capable of. Here’s a look at some of the responses to his performance …

Elanga is now too good for this level. Wouldn’t be surprised if he got a few minutes for the first team soon.

Elanga needs a few first team minutes #MUFC

Elanga’s dribbling and finishing is really dangerous. If he cuts in from the left, he is a big problem for the defense.

Another goal for him. 5-2 now to United. # MUFC # PL2
