French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi says Manchester United are making good progress with the move from Raphael Varane.
United are said to have “almost” reached a personal deal with Varane. The talks should be advanced.
He also says United are in talks with Real Madrid but have not yet made a formal offer.

This is how United appears to be working based on Jadon Sancho’s recent move.
United know Madrid are in a weak position as Varane only has one year left in his current contract.
By convincing Varane to join, Madrid’s chances of keeping him are more or less impossible and United have a head start in the negotiations.
While there could be fluctuations in either case, United will likely end up paying around £ 50m for the Frenchman. RMC Sport Report Real awaits United’s offer.

United fans have long feared Varane would use the club to sign a new contract extension with Madrid.
While this still remains a concern, daily updates seem to clearly indicate that Varane has set his sights on leaving the club and joining United.
Sky Sports reported earlier this week that United had been given permission to speak to Varane.
Real should be afraid of losing the central defender for free next summer.
Adding Varane to partner Harry Maguire could be a game-changing signing and with Victor Lindelof third choice, United’s options in defense will be stronger than any point since Sir Alex Ferguson’s resignation.
Two signings have already taken place
United have already signed substitute goalkeeper Tom Heaton and long-term goal Jadon Sancho. The club are preparing to officially unveil the English winger.
Varane would release the center-back position and let United look towards midfield.
There could also be an additional right-back and then attention will turn to player sales as well.
There are many players out there who could be permanent or loan out and the goalkeeping position could leave a big name.
Paul Pogba’s future is also still uncertain. Signing his France international could ultimately convince him to agree to a new deal.
