Manchester United have a special player who leads the line in Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan scored four goals in both games of the semi-finals against Roma and was also successful with two assists.

United’s players also know how good he is. The smile on Axel Tuanzebe’s face and Nemanja Matic’s satisfaction show how excited they are to share a place with one of the best strikers of the last decade.

Matic and Tuanzebe watched Cavani’s shot with their eyes, showing how closely they were paying attention to what the striker was doing.

Cavani is the type of defensive thinking teammate like Tuanzebe and Matic Love. It does the damage to one end and makes your life so much easier.

Playing with Cavani is a pleasure and of course training with him so that his teammates can take a break and just watch and enjoy.

The Uruguayan is United’s not-so-secret weapon for the final that Villarreal will know a lot about but may not be able to stop.

Cavani has scored 16 goals this season and would like to add to that record tonight. In the Europa League, he has scored five goals from four appearances.

Post Cristiano Ronaldo # 7s at Manchester United

  1. Michael Owen (2009-2012)

A promising start for Owen quickly faded. The former Liverpool striker struggled with injuries and only scored five Premier League goals.

  2. Antonio Valencia (2012-2013)

Valencia have been a consistent player for United and the hope was that the number 7 jersey could take his game to another level. Instead, he went backwards and asked to return to number 25.

  3. Angel di Maria (2014-2015)

United had high hopes for Di Maria after paying £ 63m for him. His form improved after a promising start and he just gave up and forced a move to PSG.

  4. Memphis Depay (2015-2017)

The number seven shirt was too early for Memphis Depay, which was all hype and little substance. The Dutchman scored just two goals in the Premier League and was sold to Lyon.

  5. Alexis Sanchez (2018-2020)

United tried to resolve dilemma number seven by handing the shirt over to a seasoned Premier League player. Unfortunately, Sanchez’s level of performance has collapsed. He only scored three league goals.

  6. Edinson Cavani (2020 – now)

United may finally have found a worthy successor for Ronaldo. He has already scored more league goals than Sanchez and Depay.
