Manchester City’s pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo has stalled.

BBC’s Simon Stone reports that City has given up signing the Portuguese striker.

This follows a remarkable turn in events with Manchester United entering the race.

Allegedly, Manchester City will not sign Cristiano Ronaldo. They considered the possibility, but decided against it.

Fabrizio Romano also reported the news that City has pulled out of a move.

United shoots for Ronaldo

This comes after Pep Guardiola downplayed talk of a move for Ronaldo in his press conference.

Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it clear that Manchester United would welcome Ronaldo with open arms.

Wayne Rooney had said last night that he doubted Ronaldo would join City.

The Athletic and BBC reports Manchester United are in talks with Juventus Turin about signing Ronaldo.

And … Man Utd in talks to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 36-year-old has scored 101 goals in 133 games for Juventus in the last three seasons and is eager to take on a new challenge.

It looks like he’s getting his chance at Old Trafford, maybe he’s just getting home.
