The UK’s best network, EE, and Beatport, the world’s largest electronic music destination, made history in Manchester last night by bringing EE x Beatport Presents Parallel, the UK’s first hybrid, 5G-powered club night event, to the music-loving city .
The 5G-powered event, held at the legendary Mancunian venue Hatch, was led by award-winning DJ Hot Since 82 and featured a high-energy live set by DJ Paulette as well as a special 5GEE-powered performance by Gina Breeze.
The evening of EDM music was taken to a whole new level for fans with the story defining the 5GEE-based virtual performance of Massey (speaking) and Neil Diablo, where the pros put their sets B2B-B2B on two at the same time mixed in different locations, via EE’s 5G network – offering the audience, live streams and those who tune in via the 5G-based livestream – a whole new experience. The crowds in Hatch enjoyed Gina Breeze’s set as well as the epic 1.5 hour B2B from Massey (speaking) and Neil Diablo through a real-time, full 1080p HD video and audio feed on location.
A large number of well-known soap and reality TV favorites as well as sports stars took part in EE x Beatport Presents Parallel. Famous faces included BMX Olympic Champion Charlotte Worthington; TV favorites Brooke Vincent, Glen Wallace, James Sutton; Jordan Hames, Callum Jones, and Molly Smith of Love Islander; and singer Tallia Storm, who was spotted on the dance floor.
Parallel Manchester was the highly anticipated sequel to the historic UK’s first hybrid, 5G-powered club night held in Liverpool last Thursday (August 12th). At the event, DJ sets from two iconic Liverpool venues were simultaneously shown live over EE’s award-winning 5G network, with Liverpudlian DJs Yousef and Melé, and Sian Bennet and Lauren Lo Sung using EE’s 5G network that required Low latency and super fast speeds delivered sets to mix together in the first performance of their kind. Highlights here.
After the historic 1.5-hour B2B set operated by EE’s 5G network, DJ Neil Diablo said, “Tonight was awesome! It really shows how much the audience, whether it was here with us or one of thousands was there live, did not miss the energy of the live performance. For my friends watching from different parts of the country, 5G was fast and the latency was low so it was like they were there on every beat of my set.
Going over 5G b2b with Massey (speaking) was amazing, blending blindly and trusting our instincts and the technology to pull this off, which all worked with a little practice. It’s exciting to think about what we could do in the future. “
Pete Jeavons, Marketing Communications Director at EE, commented, “We’re proud to have shown the potential of 5G connectivity and it’s a whole new world of collaboration and entertainment. We all missed live music, and at these events, whether you were live on the dance floor or watching the live stream, you could feel the energy between the performers during the hour and a half set.
Together with the power of our network in the hands of professionals and Beatport, we have made music history. And that’s just the beginning – we are confident this will open up even more great opportunities for the industry, and especially for those who, like us, want to create always enviable experiences. “
Ed Hill, VP of Beatport Media Group added, “Our mission is to connect electronic music lovers to the best music in the world using the latest technological tools – and with EE’s 5G network we have delivered this at its best. Together with some of the hottest names in dance, we gave fans a back-to-back experience that shows what is possible in live events. “
In order to provide the best, safest experience, all club night attendees are asked to provide a negative lateral flow test reported and proven via the NHS COVID Pass in the NHS app or an SMS or email from NHS Test Tracking .
