On a day when Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines for the first time after training with his new teammates, the return of a summer newcomer to Carrington went under the radar.

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho missed England’s World Cup qualification against Andorra and Hungary because of a “knock” (BBC Sport).

The 21-year-old returned to Carrington ahead of Gareth Southgate’s side against Poland after suffering a blow in English training.

First start arriving at Old Trafford?

Sancho made his first start against Wolves after coming off the bench in the Leeds and Southampton games.

But the £ 73m (BBC Sport) signing will aim for his first start at Old Trafford, possibly alongside Ronaldo, against Newcastle on Saturday.

With Mason Greenwood starting the season on fire, Sancho could be put in from the left alongside United’s Player of the Month CR7 and Bruno Fernandes, with Paul Pogba playing the role of quarterback – a truly delicious prospect.

While Sancho has yet to score or prepare a goal, there is no doubt that the floodgates will inevitably open when he scores his first goal contribution for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Sancho would have enjoyed training for the first time with a player whom he adores and after whom he models his game.

Saturday is supposed to be Ronaldo’s day, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Sancho hits the headlines with a winning performance that kickstarted his career at Manchester United.
