Manchester United saw what a devastating group of attacking players we have against Roma.
There is a very real and undesirable risk of losing two of them this summer.
Edinson Cavani’s deal expires in late June and while United have the option to renew it, United must be convinced they’ll sign it.

Can’t lose both
Losing both players would be a minor disaster for United. Edinson Cavani alone will be difficult to replace.
United were able to find another striker but not one with the same combination of experience, personality and ruthless finish without breaking the bank.
When you pay for a true elite striker, United will remain in other positions when both the right wing and defensive midfield need strengthening.
Replacing Paul Pogba will be next to impossible. It shows that he is a real ‘x-factor’ player.
United could buy a defensive midfielder to add to their existing squad, but losing to Pogba would be so damaging.
Pogba’s form this year was excellent. He was missed badly when he was injured in February and draws against West Brom, Palace and Chelsea without him cost the team crucial points in this year’s title race.
Make a statement
United has the option to issue a statement with these two contract extensions when the club can close the deal.
The renewal of contracts for Cavani and Pogba will send a statement to the rest of the Premier League and Europe that this Manchester United team is looking to win trophies next season.
Whatever happens in the Europa League final, United is getting closer and this season the Premier League has really moved on.
Add in a few elite players, possibly Jadon Sancho, and United have a real chance of becoming title winners and having a real blast in the Champions League.

But if the team loses Cavani and Pogba, forget about it. All the momentum and progress will be lost.
United need to capitalize on this season’s advances and tie both players to a long term deal with Pogba. Now is the time for both players to buy in and bet on United’s future success.
The two players are winners, and one’s choice might convince the other.
