CBD has become a popular product in the past few years. There is still a lot of research into this magical compound in the medical world, but in the meantime, the public is enjoying low-dose products available on the high street.

If you’re not sure what CBD is or how it differs from cannabis as a drug, then don’t worry! We’re here to clear it all up and show you ways you can use CBD to reap the benefits.

Cannabidiol: The Basics

The benefits of CBD seem to be a bit endless. From pain relief to anxiety relief, there is a reason to use cannabidiol for just about everyone. CBD is different from marijuana or other cannabis compounds in that it has very little or no THC. THC is the part that creates a psychoactive response often associated with weed “getting high”. Cannabidiol is not addictive or produces the same high feeling. Instead, it affects our endocannabinoid system, which helps regulate things like mood, sleep, and appetite.

Cannabidiol is extracted from the cannabis plant and used either as an isolate or as an isolate combined with a carrier oil like hemp or coconut.

The standard way to consume CBD is through an oil tincture. A few drops on the tongue with 60 seconds to absorb. However, this can often leave an earthy or bitter taste, which is why many people are looking for different ways to use CBD.

When purchasing CBD products, you will find that the dosage is based on concentration or percentage. With any supplement or alternative medication, it is always recommended that you either consult your GP first or opt for a lower dose. If you don’t feel any different with a low dose, build yourself up on a higher dose until you feel the effects.

Different ways to use and take CBD

Gummies

Gummies are a popular way to consume CBD – especially if you have trouble swallowing pills. They’re often available in a whole range of delicious flavors, so the supplement almost feels like a treat to start the day with.

Add it to food and drink

Pancake batter, smoothies, and yogurt are great ways to add CBD to your daily diet. Using a few drops of CBD oil in your favorite recipe doesn’t change its taste, but it does give you the opportunity to feel the mitigating effects of CBD.

Alternatively, flavored CBD oils can be an option to spice up your old recipes.

Incorporate it into your skin routine

Those struggling with chronic pain are known to benefit from cannabidiol’s anti-inflammatory properties. If you want to make your own lotions and potions with CBD, add a few drops of oil to your favorite lotion. Combine the mixture well and apply it to the area that is sore to the touch.

Since the lotion has to be absorbed over the skin and deep into the muscle, it may take a while for the effects to be felt. However, if you find that taking pain medication doesn’t really work, this may be just the thing.

Alternatively, there are plenty of lotions, bath salts, and even CBD bath bombs available at your favorite stores like The Body Shop or Holland & Barratt if you don’t have to figure out the doses yourself.

Beautify your favorite cocktail

If you’re the type in need of a drink to shed your introverted skin, you can spice up your favorite cocktail with some CBD. There are many cocktail recipes online that contain both unflavoured and flavored CBD products help increase serotonin and keep fear at bay.

Vaping

With vaping so popular, brands are now incorporating CBD into e-liquids for pens and mods. As with any CBD product, it is a good idea to start with a low concentration vape juice to avoid overdoing it. If you don’t feel the effects at a low dose, you can either vape more often or upgrade to a higher dose.

Note: CBD oil cannot be used in most e-cigs. You have to look for CBD vape juice as opposed to oil. To use oils, you need an oil-specific vaporizer.

Use it in the shower

There are now shampoos and conditioners made with CBD or hemp infusion that can be used as part of your daily routine. Hemp CBD provides a variety of essential nutrients that can protect and repair damaged hair.
