Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was injured again last night for the FA Cup third round match against Aston Villa.

Ralf Rangnick played Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane at the center of his defense and United remained clean despite a lot of pressure from Villa, especially in the second half.

An early goal from Scott McTominay was enough to get the job done and to score a fourth-round draw with the championship team Middlesbrough the next month.

Maguire took to Instagram after the game to react when United booked his place in the next round.

Maguire was struggling to maintain his form before his injury and maybe his team spell will give him a chance to regroup and regain some confidence.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tended to bring Maguire back from his injuries, most recently in the 4-2 loss to Leicester this season, but Rangnick appears to be giving his players ample opportunity to recover.

Luke Shaw was in a similar situation to Maguire, but played his way through and also reacted to the result on Instagram full-time.

United face Villa again this Saturday as they travel to Villa Park for the late kick-off of the day.

Last night’s win makes it a 1-0 win in the matches between the two teams this season and Villa’s performance last night showed they will be dangerous opponents.

Time will tell if Maguire will be fit enough to return for the game.

Varane was confident and composed throughout the game and while Lindelof didn’t show much signs of rusting on his return, a really bad touch by Swede Ollie Watkins nearly equalized in the first half.

The England international knocked the ball off the crossbar and that was so close when Villa scored a legitimate goal, despite two being disqualified for offside as well.

The win and the goals conceded were essential for Rangnick and he could soon make a decision whether he would like to bring his captain back into the team immediately.
