Woodward has resigned as vice chairman in response to the disastrous Super League proposals received.

Neville posted an emoji of a hand waving goodbye in response to Woodward’s exit.

Woodward took over at United in 2013 after David Gill resigned, and presided over command after a disastrous first summer.

United’s transfer windows have been consistently poor since then, and United have been unable to contest seriously for the title during Woodward’s tenure.

While United seemed to be gaining stability in recent months, Woodward and the Glazers have created a big storm with the club’s proposals for the Super League.

When the plans began to crumble, there was no going back for Woodward. Staying in position really looked untenable.

This is a fantastic day for United fans. Woodward’s exit was long overdue.
