The traditional British brand Fred Perry has opened a new flagship store on the ground floor of the iconic Afflecks building by Bruntwood Works in the Northern Quarter.
Fred Perry’s new retail and showroom, moving from his Police Street store, will occupy a larger 2820 square meters of space in the double corner unit at the intersection of Oldham and Church Streets.
The brand opened its doors for the first time on Saturday 29 May 2021, the new address is 41-43 Oldham Street, Manchester, M1 1JG.
Richard Gilmore, Managing Director at Fred Perry, commented, “We are very excited to be moving to the Northern Quarter. The area has no shortage of strong associations with groundbreaking music and subcultural style – which we continue to advocate.
Our retail spaces are not just stores and we look forward to sharing our activities with the Manchester community as part of an exciting continuation of Fred Perry and Afflecks’ mutual commitment to heritage and innovation. We now have a place in Manchester that we can really be proud of. “
The Northern Quarter has seen a resurgence in recent years as a major destination for lifestyle and fashion retailers, attracting brands like Ace and Tate and Carharrt, as well as independent boutiques.
Part of Bruntwood Works ‘vision is to invest in Afflecks’ presence on Oldham Street with iconic names like Fred Perry and to complement the small, independent dealers in the building itself.
Inspired by his new home in the heart of Manchester’s alternative cultural district, the design of the Fred Perry store is appropriately based on the theme of “Past, Present and Future”.
“We are delighted that the Fred Perry store in the Northern Quarter has now opened on the ground floor of our famous Afflecks building. We’re incredibly proud of our Afflecks family and to include an iconic brand like Fred Perry is brilliant! We look forward to continuing to support this great part of town, ”said Chris Middleton, Senior Retail Manager at Bruntwood Works.
