We have been waiting for this one. Manchester United are reportedly considering joining Kylian Mbappe next summer, ESPN reports.
This report is easily ridiculed from the outside, but there are actually many reasons for a change.
United would be stupid not to inquire about the world champions, so let’s share four reasons why a deal in 2022 might make sense.

Contract makes it affordable
United have a chance to land Mbappe for one simple reason. he’ll be a free agent next summer.
There are of course high wages and registration fees, but a free bank transfer makes it so much easier.
Mbappe would cost more than £ 100m this summer even if his contract runs for another year and if he was on a long-term contract PSG would charge more than £ 200m.
With such a talented player in the market it’s a rare opportunity and Manchester United just has to go after it and try to see if he’s interested.
Renew Pogba and sign Mbappe
With all the talk about Paul Pogba leaving United to join Mbappe at PSG, why not the other way around?
A contract extension from Pogba would give United a huge edge in attracting Mbappe to the club.
Getting both on the same team will leave United with a devastating pairing already established internationally.
Knowing that Mbappe could be tied to United would surely be enough to entice Pogba to stay.
Haaland will not be easy to sign
United’s top summer target is Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, who previously worked for Molde under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Haaland will cost more, although its release clause makes it affordable.
The difference is that United don’t have to deal with Mino Raiola to sign Mbappe.
Bayern Munich are also likely to make an attempt to sign Haaland, Sky Sports reports, and other top clubs will also make sure United do not have a clear run.

Mbappe has faced United in the past with PSG, winning and losing. There is mutual admiration.
The striker is friends with Marcus Rashford and The Athletic report that Mbappe sent the striker a private message after England lost on penalties.
Mbappe also praised Rashford for his charity work, The Mail reported, praising its quality on the pitch.
The Times reported last year that United was one of the clubs Mbappe wanted to sign for if he left PSG.
