Manchester United go into Sunday’s game while Liverpool need a win to keep in touch with the guests.

Bad form for United has left the side four points behind Liverpool. Losing here would bring the gap to seven.

Attack was United’s best form of defense against Atalanta and the team will try to delight the crowd at Old Trafford.

Injury Problems: Marcus Rashford has shaken off an injury sustained against Atalanta and is expected to be available.

Anthony Martial was also pictured back in training despite defenseman Raphael Varane remaining injured.

Who starts for United?

United’s five-man chain is easy to predict. David de Gea will start in goal and Victor Lindelof will partner with Harry Maguire in central defense. Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will start as full-backs.

Cristiano Ronaldo works backwards from the front and is certain of starting from the front.

Then the decision depends on the fitness of Marcus Rashford. It might be wise for United to allow Rashford as a strike substitute and let Edinson Cavani start the game.

Mason Greenwood was unable to work effectively with Ronaldo and it may be time for Cavani to start on the right, as he often did at PSG when Zlatan led the way.

With Rashford and Greenwood in the starting XI, that would open up a place for Jadon Sancho, who looked radiant when he came on as a substitute for Atalanta.

Scott McTominay disappointed against Atalanta and doesn’t deserve to keep his place. Solskjaer prefers him for big games but can turn to Paul Pogba alongside Fred for this.

Bruno Fernandes is expected to drop deep to help the midfield duo.

Both Fernandes and Fred want to recover from the injuries they sustained against Atalanta. When they’re not fit, Jesse Lingard would replace Fernandes and McTominay for Fred. But it is likely that both will recover to start.
