Donny van de Beek could still play a big role at Manchester United.
The Dutchman has no intention of leaving this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News. He is reportedly set to turn down the interest of some of Europe’s major leagues in staying at Old Trafford.
And that fighting spirit shows why he could still do well at United.
Van de Beek struggled after his £ 40million move (BBC). He scored a goal on his United debut but failed to find the net in 35 more games.
In total, he made only 19 Premier League appearances, mostly from the bank. But his time will come if he is patient.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knew what he had with the 24-year-old in terms of ability. Now he knows that the player is ready to strike and fight for his chance.

This passion for being successful at United cannot be underestimated.
Other players would have wanted to leave this summer, but not Van de Beek.
He will want to justify his price and not go down as a United flop. And most of the fans believe that he can still be successful if he runs longer in the team.
Van de Beek played second fiddle behind Bruno Fernandes last season. In truth, there are few players who can usurp the outstanding Portuguese at the moment. But the two could get more minutes together when the new campaign comes along.
One important change
Solskjaer gave the tip to switch to 4-3-3 next season. And that will be music to Van de Beek’s ears.
The midfielder is a class. This is proven by his 41 goals and 34 assists for ex-club Ajax.
Too often in the past season Van de Beek made runs that were ignored or played the easy pass. This is a trust problem that is easy to solve.
United have played in four competitions and Van de Beek should have plenty of chances. He will get a lot more if Solskjaer only selects one midfielder.
The Dutchman wants to stay. He wants to fight. Now is the time for Van de Beek to show that he is United quality.
