20-year-old striker D’Mani Mellor has returned for Manchester United U23 after injury.
Mellor last played for United in February 2020 in a friendly against Club Bruges.
After tearing a cruciate ligament in the summer of 2020, he’s been out since then, but was substituted on at halftime against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday.
United won the game 4-2 in their final pre-season friendly before the Premier League 2 campaign kicks off on Monday.
It took Mellor 15 minutes to make an impression on his return from injury and bring United back into the game at 2-2.
Zidane Iqbal, Shola Shoretire and Hannibal were United’s scorers. The goal of the Tunisian international was particularly striking.

A host of United players quickly congratulated Mellor on his return.
Regarding the first team stars, Scott McTominay, Mason Greenwood and Jesse Lingard left messages.
Mellor will try to make up for lost time in the U23 this season.
It is not easy to catch up after missing so much football but he has taken the first step and the goal will do his confidence well.
It was also a formidable result against a League One team that has already started their season, which bodes well for Neil Wood’s side.
