Manchester United youngster Charlie Wellens is set to leave Manchester United on loan shortly.
The Sun report he is set to join League Two side Crewe Alexandra.
Wellens scored a free-kick in Manchester United’s opening under-21 game of the season at the weekend, opening the scoring against Arsenal. United lost the game 3-1.
The move would be Wellens’ first spell out on loan in his career so far.

Charlie Wellens set to leave
Wellens played as a midfielder for Manchester United’s under-18s side, but amid competition for places and a vacant spot at the back last season, he reinvented himself as a right-back.
His attacking quality shone through, providing six assists from the position in 2021/22, the third highest in the under-23s behind Shola Shoretire and Alvaro Fernandez. He also scored once.
Wellens has trained with Manchester United’s first team in pre-season, but is not part of the first team conversation.

The 19-year-old is at an age where he needs to play first team football and a switch to League Two side Crewe is a good one for him if it goes ahead.
He has played 72 academy games for United from under-18s to under-21 level and has little to gain from another season at Carrington playing youth team football.
Crewe have won their first two matches of the season and Wellens would hope he can play a part in a promotion chasing campaign.
Dan is still wondering what would have happened if United had kept Juan Veron…
