After his perfect start to the season with a hat trick last weekend, Bruno Fernandes was always unlikely to keep up in the second game.

Unfortunately, he didn’t come close with a disappointing performance against Southampton.

Nothing Fernandes tried came with a free kick against the wall, and while he did take two chances, it wasn’t one of his better games.

He was bundled by the ball leading up to Southampton’s goal and while there could have been a free kick against him it was also a lazy game by the United star.

The only positive thing for Fernandes was his role in leveling United as he exchanged passes with Paul Pogba in the box before the Frenchman set up the template for Mason Greenwood.

Fernandes admits the 1-1 result was a disappointing result and says United will have a reaction at Wolves next weekend.

United’s game at Molineux is their last before the international break and a win would be a good way to sign off.

The Wolves had a difficult start to the season under new boss Bruno Lage, who was beaten 1-0 by Tottenham today and 1-0 by Leicester City the week before.

Fernandes’ words are encouraging to hear after a poor performance but he has to back them up with an improved ad next Sunday.
