Football fans can be impatient. With United 1-2 down at half-time against Roma, the Doommongers were in effect.
Would that be another slump in the semi-finals and a fifth under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?
Well United responded emphatically.
The team scored five unanswered goals in the second half and won 6-2. The Roma experienced a nightmare they thought they would never see again.
Bruno Fernandes summed up the feeling after the game with a cheeky message to the fans …
The second half was a joy to see. United was rife and it was like watching the team play against a 10-man Southampton, not Roma.
Fernandes scored two goals in the win, Edinson Cavani scored a brace, while Paul Pogba and substitute Mason Greenwood also took action.
Cavani sent a message to fans which, very simply and humbly, read “good win guys” like he was just playing in a friendly game. To be fair, he made it look that simple.
In the Premier League, United have Liverpool next. If the team plays like this, bring them along.
