Manchester United’s points last weekend put an end to any realistic chance the team had to win the Premier League. But there are still many reasons to be positive.

The Red Devils have come a long way under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. They might not win the league this time around, but without a few frustrating draws, things could have been very different.

If the title is sealed by United’s strong rivals in the coming weeks, as expected, there is another chance for Old Trafford believers to get excited.

With second place sealed and United preparing for a Europa League final, Amad Diallo could get some much-needed minutes in the top division.

So far, the 18-year-old has only managed cup trips. That’s to be expected when he makes a bed at United. But he could benefit if Solskjaer is willing to give some fringe players more minutes between now and summer.

In time, Amad will be one of the first names on United’s team sheet. For now, however, the point is to manage his appearances the way Sir Alex Ferguson once did with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Signed for £ 37.2m (BBC), Amad is a nascent superstar. Anyone who has seen him play knows that he has a rare and exciting gift.

But the Premier League takes getting used to. And giving the teen more playing time now could be the catalyst for them to explode next season.

The opportunities could now reap rich rewards

Amad proved himself with a great goal against AC Milan. He has also topped every U23 game he has appeared in.

Now it’s time for him to play in the league for a few minutes, with some May dates perfect for his launch.

United knows better than most how to use young players to make a winning team. And it will be interesting to see how Solskjaer uses the next league games.

A win against Liverpool and a top 2 result are far from certain. From there it could be anything but for Amad instead of nothing left in the league.
